IAA for Young Entrepreneur

Young entrepreneurs under the age of 35 represent a growing future of the entrepreneurial community. Today’s youth is the driving force behind most of the innovations and creations, they’re also a huge talent base for startups. Tapping on their potential, the Government of India has introduced many employment generating schemes either promoting entrepreneurship or wage employment. ‘Skill India’ and ‘Startup India’ are two of the most important initiatives to promote startup ventures to boost youth entrepreneurship, and encouraging start-ups with job creation is facilitating ease of doing business.

The quality that sets apart young entrepreneurs is that they’re mostly self-motived. In a country like India where parents and society are stubbornly bent towards higher academics and traditional career paths, these young minds strive to aim and achieve something higher. Youth entrepreneurs have a penchant for taking risks, self-efficacy, and a need for achievement. They know how to seize opportunities, spot possibilities and generate value by coming up with creative goods, services, or business ideas. And while young entrepreneurs benefit much in terms of creativity, development, and flexibility, they face challenges with access to capital, lack of involvement, and limited market knowledge. Their success is largely determined by their access to finance, prior work experience, training, and professional connections. Young entrepreneurs who are also active in extracurricular activities, such as athletics or community service, are likely to develop the skills and traits like teamwork, adaptability, and authority  that contribute to their success. Young entrepreneurs are also more likely to enroute for sustainable practices and ethical business conduct.

At Indian Achiever’s Forum, we take immense pride in celebrating these visionary young leaders who are not only making a mark in their respective industries but are also contributing to India’s economic and social development. The IAA for Young Entrepreneur recognizes individuals who exemplify determination, leadership, and innovation. Through this prestigious honor, we aim to spotlight their achievements, inspire aspiring entrepreneurs, and reinforce the importance of nurturing young talent.

IAA for CTO of the Year

The chief technology officer (CTO) is the key executive who oversees the organization’s present technology and structures relevant policies for organisational development. Beyond simply resolving IT-related issues, the CTO plays a crucial role in developing, implementing, managing, and evaluating the company’s technological resources to support both its current operations and future growth.

In today’s shifting digital world, the role of the CTO has transcended beyond mere guardianship of technical processes to become a cornerstone of strategic foresight and business acumen. They are custodians for managing how technology intersects with environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR). A skilled CTO must be attuned  to not only current tech trends but also innovations will drive future business success. For instance, a CTO at a leading e-commerce company might champion the adoption of AI-driven customer service bots, significantly reducing response times and improving customer satisfaction. Similarly, in industries like fintech, a CTO could lead the way in implementing cloud infrastructure that automatically scales during peak traffic events such as Black Friday, ensuring seamless and uninterrupted service. A CTO must ensure that the company’s technology stack is robust and scalable. CTO must develop a technology roadmap that aligns with the business plan, including short-term goals like upgrading network security to protect customer data, and long-term objectives such as investing in blockchain for secure, transparent transactions. It’s also imperative for CTOs to anticipate potential threats before they materialize. They might conduct regular security audits to preempt data breaches, considering the high cost of cyber-attacks in both financial terms and customer trust.

The Indian Achievers’ Forum recognizes the significant efforts of CTOs in managing the technological backend of their organizations with “IAA for CTO of the Year.” This recognition celebrates the crucial role that CTOs play in driving innovation, operational excellence, and ethical practices within the technology realm, all while ensuring that their organizations are well-positioned for sustainable growth in the ever-evolving business world.

IAA for COO of the Year

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is the second-highest executive after the CEO. A COO is responsible for supervising and administering the organization’s daily business operations, leading key initiatives, and implementing company-wide strategies. Just like the judiciary and legislature formulate policies and the executive branch implements them, the CEO constructs longer-term business strategies and the Chief Operations Officer executes them. The COO ‘the second in Command’ demands exceptional decision-making, outstanding management skills, and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively across all levels of the organization.

The Harvard Business Review reveals the seven roles that COO plays vis-à-vis their CEOs.
1) To lead the execution of strategies developed by the top management team. Managing large, often global, enterprises sometimes requires two sets of hands; in such cases, the COO typically takes responsibility for delivering results on a day-to-day, quarter-to-quarter basis.
2) To lead a specific strategic imperative, such as a turnaround, a major organizational change, or a planned rapid expansion. The change-agent COO has a degree of unquestioned authority similar to that of an executor.

3) Some companies bring a COO on board to mentor a young or inexperienced CEO (often a founder). COO often acts as an industry veteran with seasoning, wisdom, and a rich network who can develop both the CEO and the emerging business.
4) A company may bring in a COO not as a mentor, but as a foil, to complement the CEO’s experience, style, knowledge base, or penchants.
5) Some CEOs thrive when they work alongside a partner who shares leadership responsibilities. This partnership, often referred to as a “two in a box” model, involves co-leadership where the CEO and COO work together equally.
6) In many cases, a COO position is established to groom– or test – a company’s CEO-elect. The broad purview of the job allows an heir apparent to learn the whole company: its business, environment, and people.

Indian Achiever’s Forum aims to recognize the determined COOs and takes pride in honoring them with “IAA for COO of the Year”. This accolade not only acknowledges the hard work and dedication of these leaders but also serves as a motivating force, encouraging them to continue striving for excellence and achieving their organizational goals.

International Achievers’ Award

People often move out of India in search of better education or job opportunities or to upgrade their standard of living. Although Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) form only 1% of 1.3 billion total population of Indians, they are an integral part of India. Despite their relatively small numbers, NRIs contribute immensely to India’s socio-economic fabric, both through their intellectual capital and financial contributions. According to a report, each dollar that gets transferred to India adds to the country’s foreign exchange pool. Remittances to India are also one of the crucial contributors to the foreign exchange reserve and sum up to approximately 25 percent of total foreign exchange reserves in the country. There was a 50 to 80 percent growth in remittance inflows from several nations including the United States, Canada, UK, and the Middle-East countries.

Beyond economic support, NRIs also serve as cultural ambassadors of India, spreading awareness about Indian traditions, values, and heritage across the world. They often invest in Indian businesses, startups, and real estate, thereby boosting the economy and creating jobs in various sectors, such as technology, healthcare, and manufacturing. NRIs help build stronger diplomatic and trade relations between India and their host countries that often pave the way for better bilateral policies, trade agreements, and collaborations between nations. NRIs also play a crucial role in promoting India as a tourism destination which further enhances tourism revenues and foreign exchange.

Indian Achiever’s Forum keeps a close concern about the Indian community residing overseas. The International Achiever’s Award presented by Indian Achievers’ Forum promotes and encourages the NRIs who have left a mark on the sands of achievement and have done some exceptional work for the betterment, growth & development of the Indian diaspora in any country across the globe. This award is given to the individuals, organisations and business community people who bring glory for India through their outstanding achievements. Shiksha Bharati Award

The strength of any nation lies in its people, particularly the young dreamers: tomorrow’s leaders, who will drive economic growth and shape a sustainable future. Carving out responsible citizens from a vast and diverse population is no solitary quest and high-quality education from an early age is the first step in this transformative journey. Education plays a crucial role in shaping students into ethical, rational, and compassionate individuals, while at the same time preparing them for meaningful employment.

The end goal for education is nation building. The more thoughtfully the education system is structured from an early age, the more it will nurture a generation of youth who are not only civilized citizens but also critical thinkers and empathetic individuals. The Indian education system needs to revamp itself to accommodate today’s evolving students, who seek inclusivity, innovative pedagogies, and holistic growth. In today’s time, education should no longer bind students into rigid courses and curricula, instead liberate students to pursue choice-based subjects and specialized courses from a young age, allowing them to suitably sketch their career paths. The brewing resolve among educationists and academic experts to establish a comprehensive framework that addresses the evolving cyber lifestyle of students and layer their learning needs with educational institutions’ models will smoothly conduct the transition from lecture based teaching to students’ preferred learning approach.

Keeping in mind the transformative potential of education, Indian Achievers’ Forum takes immense pride in presenting Shiksha Bharati Award to individuals who have immensely contributed in the field of education and have been part of assuring quality education to the students. Indian Achiever’s Forum proudly recognizes and honours these nation builders who shape the society by imparting knowledge and wisdom to the young minds. We aim to support initiatives that enhance technical and developmental skills, keeping educators and students at the forefront of emerging technologies. We also facilitate participants with a platform for sharing insights on national and global educational trends, helping specialists exchange ideas through seminars, workshops, and roundtable discussions. Indian Achiever’s Forum also raises awareness and encourages public support regarding overall social development by fostering an ecosystem where knowledge, innovation, and progress thrive.

Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award

Entrepreneurship demands immense hardwork, clockblocked hours and dedicated strategies but for women there’s an added layer of challenge: The stigma of being a woman in a society. Women today have excelled in almost every field leaving no stones unturned. Mainstream entrepreneurship is usually a male-dominated field. “Entreprenuer” still rings for men. Women have driven themselves to drive businesses. Through perseverance, education,  and progressing societal norms, women have carved the path for well-deserved opportunities and recognition.

Unsurprisingly, women still occupy traditionally female roles in the workplace – such as nursing and childcare which exhibit exceptionally high female shares, and positions in teaching and education boasting a significant female presence. The beauty industry consistently remained a strong career for women. Yet there’s a noticeable shift in women’s participation; women are slowly and steadily climbing to management positions. According to the most recent global estimate, two in five STEM workers are now women.

Studies consistently show that female leaders benefit business. In addition to doubling a company’s talent pool, recruiting women increases financial performance. Fortune 500 companies with the highest percentage of women on boards report stronger financial performance. Women-led organizations consistently demonstrate higher returns on equity, greater financial stability, and improved stress resilience. In today’s world, women entrepreneurs have become an important part of the global business environment driving sustained economic development and social progress. Womenpreneurs are also environmental stewards in natural resource management and environmental conservation efforts.

Indian Achiever’s Forum, takes pride in honoring these women entrepreneurs who not only bring glory to the organization they are working for, but also are directly contributing in the development of the country. IAA for Woman Entrepreneur of the Year is for women who are unstoppable, no matter what circumstances life puts them in. Through this recognition, we celebrate not just their achievements but also the spirit of innovation, leadership, and tenacity that they embody. As we continue to support and uplift women in business, we inspire future leaders to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams with confidence.

Unominds Addressing Voids that can Shape India’s Preschool Space!

With the vision of “Making Education Accessible to All”, Unominds is redefining  education for teachers and creating an effective ecosystem in preschool education space. Unominds Pvt. Ltd is grateful to IAA for acknowledging its aims and deeming it with the award of “Most Promising Startup”. Unominds team are instrumental in bridging educational and employment void by creating skilled work force of more than 100,000 individuals across various geographies.

Unominds’ extensive research programme has identified two eminent voids that are a hindrance to the country’s growth and its widening can have macroscopic effects on the country’s GDP. Based on our quantitative analysis, which helped us identify Void 1, currently 110 million children in India are eligible for preschool education (0–6 years). These years of preschool education are a vital stage of development of an individual’s overall growth and, if not addressed properly, will produce a domino effect of creating an unskilled and unemployable youth workforce. To make matters worse, only 40% of those children have limited access to the country’s 70,000 preschool institutions, with an average of 650 students per preschool, a sight we are still yet to witness in the country. It is just not the accessibility gap, the quality of education is an even more daunting scenario. Aser’s Survey of 2018 states that 42.7% of Grade One students can’t recognise the 26 alphabets while 35.7% replicate the same incompetency for numbers 1-9. Unominds aim to establish a more precise, sufficient, and efficient preschool setup and skilled teachers, eventually discipline the preschool setups by eradicating the state of compromise between learning deficit and supply deficit at various levels of the country’s education system.

A skilled, knowledgeable, relevant teacher with good subject matter expertise (SME), and a resourceful preschool setup will boost the preschool setup. Unfortunately, India’s employment rate is at a staggering low and the available work force is highly unskilled and is solely driven by the narrowed vision of only ascertaining earnings and not upgrading skills, which basically summarises the VOID 2. With no intent to overstate the term “women’s empowerment”; rather, Unominds intend is to create a nurturing ecosystem and provide already passionate women with the right tools and training to increase women’s employability, which is currently at 27%.

Unominds current strategy for filling the two voids is to expand on our previous strategy of upskilling the unemployed and assisting those who want to open their own preschool. The same is done by arming them with our entrepreneurship and training program. Unominds team are in talks with various MNCs and NGOs who will help us with digitalization and change things from the grass-root levels of India.

National Water Awards 2022: Recognizing and Appreciating the efforts of outstanding people for their exemplary work in the field of Water Management

National Water Awards 2022: Recognizing and Appreciating the efforts of outstanding people for their exemplary work in the field of Water Management

Water sustainability recognition

The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, presented the third National Water Awards and launched the Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain campaign 2022 in New Delhi on March 29, 2022. Expressing his views on the occasion, he said that presentation of National Water Awards for exemplary work in the field of water management, and expansion of water campaign to underline the importance of water in our daily life and on the planet Earth, is commendable.
Shri. Kovind said that it gives him immense pleasure to launch ‘Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain 2022’. He urged everyone to work on the focused interventions of this edition of the campaign. He said that district magistrates and village sarpanchs would have to play a crucial role in motivating the local populace for active participation of each individual in water conservation work. He urged everyone to take a pledge that just as the largest vaccination drive in history is being carried out in India, in the same way we all would make this campaign the biggest water conservation campaign in the history.

He said that it is quite appropriate to say that ‘water is life’. Nature has blessed humanity with water resources. It has provided us with vast rivers, on whose banks great civilizations flourished. Rivers have special significance in the Indian culture and are worshiped as Mother. We have dedicated places for worship of the rivers – for Ganga and Yamuna in Uttarakhand, for Narmada in Madhya Pradesh and for Ganga-Sagar in Bengal. Such religious practices kept us connected with nature. The construction of ponds and wells were considered a virtuous act. But with the advent of modernity and industrial economy, we have lost that connect with nature, population growth being one of the factors. We find ourselves cut off from nature that has sustained us. People often travel to Yamunotri to express their gratitude and offer prayers to the Yamuna, but on returning to the capital Delhi, it is sad to find the same river extremely polluted.

Shri Kovind also expressed concern over water sources like ponds and lakes disappearing under the pressure of urbanization. It has turned water management upside down. The quantity of ground water is decreasing and its level, going down. On one hand, cities have to draw their water from faraway places and, on the other hand, streets are flooded in monsoons. “The issue of water is a part of an even larger crisis of climate change. As climate changes, flood and drought conditions are becoming more frequent and more severe. The Himalayan glaciers are melting, and the sea level is rising. The serious consequences of such changes are coming to the fore, which are having an even worse impact on the lives of farmers, women and the poor”, he further added.

Water crisis, today, has become an international crisis and can take dire forms. Some defense experts have even said that in future it can become a major cause of international conflict. We all have to be alert to save humanity from such situations. He expressed happiness on the fact that the Government of India is taking effective measures in this direction. Further, he said that facing the impact of climate change and protecting our Earth is an epic challenge before all of us. To meet this challenge, Government of India has adopted a new approach and methodology. The Government of India gave an early indication of change in 2014 by renaming the Ministry of Environment and Forests and incorporating ‘Climate Change’ in it. Moving forward in this direction, in the year 2019, by merging two ministries, the Ministry of Jal Shakti was formed to work in an integrated and holistic manner on the issue of water and to give it the highest priority.

Shri Kovind was happy to note that India has taken effective steps to reduce the effects of climate change and ensure water security through efficient use of water, conservation of water sources, minimizing pollution and ensuring sanitation. He said that in recent years, the policies of the Government have included rejuvenation of rivers, holistic management of river basins, expeditious completion of long pending irrigation projects to strengthen water security in a sustainable manner and rejuvenation of existing dams.

He also added that in order to make water everyone’s business and make the Jal Andolan a Jan Andolan – a mass movement, the Government of India in 2019 launched the ‘Jal Shakti Abhiyan’. And in the same year ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ was also launched. Last year on 22nd March, on ‘World Water Day’, the ‘Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain’ campaign was launched by the Prime Minister which was taken up in all districts in rural as well as urban areas of the country during the pre-monsoon and monsoon period. He appreciated state governments for their commendable contribution in the success of this campaign amidst the challenges of the corona pandemic.

Recognition Awards
Noting the exemplary work done by the National Water Award-winners for water management in their respective fields, Shri Kovind said that on the basis of such examples, we could find hope for a water-secure future. He congratulated all of them and urged them to continue being exemplars and source of motivation for all of us. He expressed confidence that these Awards would usher in a water consciousness in the minds of people of India and would help in bringing about a behavioral change.

BJP and Yogi Adityanath government formation in 2022

Elections 2022: A nip and tuck of power, position and forming Government

Elections 2022: A nip and tuck of power, position and forming Government

BJP and Yogi Adityanath government formation in 2022

Elections in India not only interests its citizens, but also is overlooked by several countries globally. Along with serving the citizens in their hour of need, campaigning plays an equally important role for any party contesting elections, and this has been evident over years. This year 5 states had their elections due. The states of Goa, Manipur, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand saw their Chief Ministers retaining the power whereas Punjab voted for a change and saw a new face as its Chief Minister. The campaigning strategy of each of the political parties somehow create an impact in the minds of the people, thereby persuading them to vote for a particular party.

Shri. Yogi Adityanath was sworn in as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh for the second consecutive term at the Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow today, i.e., on 25th of March 2022. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP president J.P. Nadda were the dignitaries present. The grand oath-taking ceremony was held at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Friday. This year’s slogan of the BJP Party in Uttar Pradesh was UP+Yogi, Bahut Hai Upyogi.

The second state where the NDA grabbed majority of votes is Manipur. Shri N. Biren Singh was sworn in as the chief minister of Manipur for the second consecutive term on 21st of March 2022. The oath of office was administered by Manipur Governor La Ganesan at the Raj Bhawan in Imphal. It is believed that the state enjoyed relatively peaceful five years under Shri. Biren Singh. Also, as far as the geographical location of Manipur is concerned, majority of the state is surrounded by the mountains and the lush green valleys. Equal attention was paid by the CM in the valley as well as the hills in Manipur where the valley and the hills have 40 and 20 seats in the Assembly respectively. This stood out as an X-factor in the winning process of Shri. Biren Singh thus taking oath as the Chief Minister of Manipur for the second consecutive time.

The third State that the BJP retained was Uttarakhand. Shri. Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday took oath as the Uttarakhand Chief Minister on the 23rd of March 2022. This is his second tenure as the Chief Minister. He is best known for ending the anti-incumbency wave in the state. Also, being one of the youngest to become a Chief Minister at 46 years, Shri. Pushkar Singh Dhami’s popularity is distinct and that makes him one of a kind. A month after taking charge as the CM for the first time, Shri. Dhami announced several schemes that consisted of distribution of free tablets for class 10 -12 pass students, formulation of sports policy for sportspersons, enacting a law on population control and connecting Pauri and Almora with a railway line. These announcements served to increase Dhami’s popularity among the common people, hence marking his return as the Chief Minister for the second time.

Although the swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Minister of Goa is yet to be done, Shri. Pramod Sawant is all set to take charge for the second consecutive term as the Chief Minister of Goa on the 28th of March, 2022.  He is best known for his innovative ideas. After taking charge as the Chief Minister for the first time, he ensured that the new government buildings were eco-friendly and catered to minimum carbon emissions. Since Goa is home to various unique cultures, he also initiated the construction of Ravindra Bhavan culture centres at all the 12 Talukas of the state. He also built India’s first floating jetty in Old Goa, thus paving way towards his second term as the CM.

The Punjab elections were surprising to many! The victory of the Aam Aadmi Party’s CM candidate Shri. Bhagwant Mann came in as a surprise to many. For a past few couple of months, Punjab was in distress regarding its next leader. There were all the staunch and eminent leaders on one side and on the other hand, The AAP kept its candidature very limited and people as common as a mechanic, wherein he defeated the Congress’ worthy opponent Mr. Channi. Apart from all these factors, looking at the changes he brought in Delhi, AAP received enormous support from the youth and the ladies as the party promised certain policies.

Recognition Awards

“A film should be a vehicle with a higher purpose—a carrier of the social, moral and ethical message,” the Vice President of India, Shri M Venkaiah Naidu.

National Film Awards for 2019 were conferred by the Vice President of India, Shri M Venkaiah Naidu in various categories at its 67th edition and the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Award. The awards were given in 2021 for the year 2019 (as against the scheduled program in May 2020), owing to the COVID-19 pandemic and in 2020 not many films were released. The National Film Awards were established in 1954, when the awards were given for the films of the year 1953. The awards were initially called ‘State Awards’ and two President’s Gold Medals, two certificates of merit, and 12 silver medals for regional films were presented in the earlier years. The First National Film Awards (State Awards) were held over two days, during which exhibitions were held and two documentaries were premiered, along with the presentation of awards. Since the 57th National Film Awards, the awards in the feature film section are decided through a two-tier selection process, comprising five regional panels and a central jury. The juries are distinguished persons in the field of cinema, other allied arts and humanities.

The National Film Awards are given in three sections: Feature Films, Non-Feature Films, and Best Writing in Cinema. The Most Film Friendly State award is also given, along with the National Film Awards, to a state of India that has been helpful in furthering the growth of the film industry by creating an environment for ease of filming in the state, encouraging skill/ talent development among other proactive initiatives. The award for the best non-feature film for 2019 has been given to AN ENGINEERED DREAM (Hindi) produced and directed by Shri Hemant Gaba, while the recognition for best feature film has been accorded to Marakkar-Arabikkadalinte-Simham (Malayalam) directed by Shri Priyadarshan. Chandra, Chairman, Central Panel, Shri Arun Chaddha, Chairman, Non-Feature Films Jury, Shri Shaji N Karun, Chairman, Most Film Friendly State Jury and Shri Saibal Chatterjee, Chairman Best Writing on Cinema Jury. The Jury presented selections for the Awards to the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shri Prakash Javadekar. Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting (I&B), Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, Union Minister of State for I&B Dr. L. Murugan, Secretary, Ministry of I&B, Shri Apurva Chandra, Chairpersons of Jury and other dignitaries were present at the event in New Delhi. The Vice President said a film should be a vehicle with a higher purpose—a carrier of the social, moral and ethical message. “Moreover, films should refrain from highlighting the violence an should voice society’s disapproval of social evils,’ he added. He was speaking after presenting the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award to popular actor Shri
Rajnikanth (The Dada Saheb Phalke award has been conferred to 50 Film personalities since its inception. Rajnikant is the 51st recipient.) and national awards to actors of cinemas of various languages. Instituted in 1969, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award was introduced by the Government of India to commemorate Dadasaheb Phalke’s contribution to Indian cinema. Honoured with the highest award in the field of cinema, the recipients are recognized for their ‘outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian cinema’. Dadasaheb Phalke award is also given, in the memory of the success of Raja Harishchandra by Dadasaheb Phalke (1913). It gave way to a new line of eager filmmakers and artists in the Indian film industry. Among the early pioneers were J.F. Madan of Elphinstone Bioscope Company, Calcutta, later known as Madan Theatres Ltd., and Himanshu Rai, Co-Director of the Light of Asia, who later became famous as the founder of Bombay Talkies. Observing that a good film has the power to touch hearts and minds, Shri Naidu said cinema is the cheapest entertainment in the world and urged filmmakers and artists to use it for the betterment of the people, society and nation. Stressing the need for cinema to usher in positivity and happiness, he said, “Experience tells us that a film with a message has lasting appeal”. Apart from entertainment, cinema also has the power to provide enlightenment.

Speaking on occasion, Shri Anurag Thakur said that entertainment should be equally accessible to all sections of society. The Minister urged the film industry to find ways to take cinema simultaneously to the audience in rural and remote areas. The Minister added that commemorating 75 years of Indian Independence, we have opened our platform for 75 young creative minds of India. 52nd IFFI will provide a plat[1]form to 75 immensely
talented youngsters to showcase their talent on a world stage. The Directorate of Film Festivals is inviting entries from ama[1]teur filmmakers and
cinema buffs around the country. Seventy-five best entries in the competition will be delegates to Asia’s oldest film festival, IFFI. The National Film Awards are the most prestigious film awards in India. The awards are intended to encourage the production of films that are both artistically and technically excellent, as well as socially relevant, and that contribute to the understanding and appreciation of cultures from various parts of the country through cinematic representation, thereby promoting national unity and integrity. The awards have been administered by the Directorate of Film Festivals since 1973.

India represents 17% of the global population, its historical cumulative emissions are only 4%, while current annual GHG emissions are only about 5%. India is always committed to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Framework and its Paris Agreement and played a critical role COP26 and assured the world, that India will work constructively for successful and balanced outcome of the decisions taken at the summit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “In the midst of this global brainstorming on climate change, on behalf of India, I would like to present five nectar elements, Panchamrit, to deal with this challenge. First- India will reach its non-fossil energy capacity to 500 GW by 2030. Second- India will meet 50 percent of its energy require[1]ments from renewable energy by 2030. Third- India will reduce the total projected carbon emissions by one billion tonnes from now onwards till 2030. Fourth- By 2030, India will reduce the carbon intensity of its economy by less than 45 percent. And fifth- by the year 2070, India will achieve the target of Net Zero. These panchamrits will be an unprecedented contribution of India to climate action.” He urged the world leader for transfer of climate finance and low-cost climate technologies. India expects developed countries to provide climate finance of $1 trillion at the earliest. He said, it is important that it is necessary that as we track the progress made in climate mitigation, we should also track climate finance.

The proper justice would be that the countries which do not live up to their promises made on climate finance, must be pressured too. “I
consider it as my duty to raise the voice of developing countries,” Modi stated. India is of the view, that all Parties need to immediately contribute their fair share and achieving this would require developed countries to rapidly reduce their emissions and dramatically scale-up their financial support to developing countries. The issues were reiterated by Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav. He pointed that developed countries have not only failed to meet the $100 billion goal per year of support to developing countries each and every year since 2009, but they also continue to present the 2009 goal as the ceiling of their ambition all the way to 2025. In a context where developing countries, including BASIC (Brazil, South Africa, India and China) countries, have massively stepped up their climate actions since 2009, it is unacceptable that there is still no matching ambition from developed countries on the enabling means of implementation on climate finance support. To reinforce India’s commitments’, a web portal on electric vehicles (EVs), was launched at the COP26 Summit in Glasgow, UK. E-Amrit is a one-stop destination for all information on electric
vehicles—busting myths around the adoption of EVs, their purchase, investment opportunities, policies, subsidies, etc. The portal has been developed and hosted by NITI Aayog under a collaborative knowledge exchange programme with the UK government and as part of the UK–India Joint Roadmap 2030, signed by the Prime Ministers of the two countries. E-Amrit intends to complement initiatives or the government on raising awareness on EVs and sensitizing consumers on the benefits of switching to electric vehicles. In the recent past, India has taken many initiatives to accelerate the decarbonization of transport and adoption of electric mobility in the country. Schemes such as FAME and PLI are especially important in creating an ecosystem for the early adoption of EVs.
