It is absolutely essential that utility services are able to communicate with customers in the event of an outage or other emergency. During such circumstances, customers expect to be able to speak to a company representative to meet their needs and provide information. Therefore, businesses must operate emergency scheduling to effectively dispatch technicians to customers during an emergency. For these purposes, the customer information system application utilized another third-party application called Click in order to manage emergency orders. However, Click proved to have low resilience and was unreliable in scheduling emergency appointments. Mr. Nair therefore designed and developed an application called Order Hub. This application is a REST Web Service that is hosted in Microsoft’s Cloud Azure app service environment. Order Hub processes data transactions between internal source systems and the utility company’s system. Furthermore, Order Hub is a highly scalable application capable of functioning at full capacity even in the event of a cyber event or natural disaster. Mr. Nair’s employer has completely replaced Click with his own software application to schedule emergency orders. This program is a vast improvement over the previously utilized software and ensures that customers are able to contact their utility providers and that the providers are able to quickly schedule emergency services to their customers.

This project has had a significant impact on the field, and, as a result of Mr. Nair’s work, Dominion Energy Services, Inc. is directly implementing his innovative software at multiple locations throughout the United States. Locations in South Carolina, Utah, Ohio, and Virginia are all reliant upon Mr. Nair’s Order Hub software to maintain services during emergency situations. Seeing as Mr. Nair’s work is being widely implemented by such a prominent utilities service provider, it is clear that his software has proven to be immensely valuable for maintaining operations
