Everyone has a different definition of success in their life; people often think success is all about achieving high positions and prosperity. But for Mr. Rohan Dhamankar, it is self-satisfaction and happiness, more than anything else. He always feels that you are successful if you are happy in what you are doing and satisfied with your family & work life.

Like anyone else, he was also born in a typical middle-class family in Mumbai, where people live happily with a joint family in a matchbox-sized house. Growing up in a joint family teaches you many valuable aspects of life, sharing and caring keeps the entire family together.

His father was working in a textile mill and was carrying high responsibility for the entire family. His mother was a housewife who had equally high, or he would say more responsibility for taking care of the entire house. They taught him how to live happily in every small thing around us. Both were very hard-working, honest, and ethical, and the same values he carried in his life through them.

He completed his graduation from Wilson College in Botany and did my post-graduation in Horticulture & landscaping later. For everyone else, this was a very different field altogether and something that they never heard of in Mumbai. At that time in 2002, people would either go to the engineering, medical, or IT sector, but this was a completely different sector for people staying in the city.

People would often ask him what next. Even his parents were a little worried about the field in which he chose to build his career. He was very passionate about this field, and he knew that this was the career that would keep me happy in my life.

After completing his studies, he started working with one of the leading real estate companies in Mumbai. And thereon he never looked back, he got an opportunity to work with many well-known organizations and prestigious projects in India. He was enjoying his work and that made him deliver the best out of him all the time. In his total 22 years of experience so far, he worked with the Airport sector for more than 12 years and real estate for the rest of the years. He has contributed to the development of many National projects like Mumbai, Bangalore, and Lucknow airports and is currently working on the Noida International Airport project. Every project was a new learning for him and made him more confident and polished. Out of all the projects that he delivered in his life, Terminal 2 Bangalore Airport was very special and close to his heart. That was the most complex and challenging project that he had ever worked on. The project is designed on the “Terminal in the Garden” theme and has many special elements that are done first time in India. He was very lucky to get an opportunity to lead the entire development of this project. This project has been recognized by the entire world and won many prestigious awards for its unique character. UNESCO has recognized this project as the World’s most beautiful airport. This project has India’s first and world’s largest hanging garden which has more than 2 lakh plants hanging on massive structures. The green wall inside the Terminal is the largest green wall in any terminal in the world. Not only the terminal of Bangalore airport but also the airside turfing of the new runway is one of the mega projects. The turfing has been done on more than 833 acres of area and is probably the largest turfing project in India. The success of this project gives me immense pleasure and happiness, not everyone gets an opportunity to work on such kind of great landscape projects.

There is a quote, “Behind every successful man there is one woman”. And he has 3 in his life, my mother, wife, and beautiful daughter. All these 3 are his strength and inspiration that helps him to deliver the best every day. He is blessed to have them in his life, and a lot of credit goes to his wife who is been outstanding in all areas of life. His parents are his foundation who laid the foundation of great values in his life and his wife is a pillar of my career who is helping him to achieve new milestones every day.
