Poornima started her career at Microsoft Ireland Research Center as a Software Engineer. She moved to Redmond, USA in 2016 and became a Senior Software Engineer as part of the MS Office Team, responsible for the design, development and architecture effort to build software systems responsible to deliver all of Office’s Products like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Teams to all customers, across all platforms like Windows, iOS, Android etc. thereby ensuring Office Product’s Software Updates are released each month to millions of users with a high velocity and fewer bugs thereby directly contributing to one of Microsoft’s most successful and profitable product – Microsoft Office. She pivoted her career as a Senior Product Manager at Microsoft in 2022 for the Microsoft 365 Team. As a Senior Product Manager, she leads several key initiatives from defining product vision and strategy, collaborating with cross functional teams to deliver high quality products, tracking metrics and KPIs and mentoring and coaching junior product managers in the team. 

Poornima was part of a team that won the Microsoft Global Hackathon in 2016 in the Artificial Intelligence Category. Her patents are a significant contribution to the field of Machine Learning and AI. One of her most notable inventions is a Machine Learning model that can analyze historical bug data and proactively prevent software issues from happening.
