After working closely with the Maasai community for three years, Aruna was able to understand the challenges faced due to the lack of education and tale old traditions as well as understanding the cultural dynamic in Kenya. One key problem identified was that the girls do not have the proper information and education about menstruation which has in some cases led to health concerns and in some circumstances ended in the loss of life; and this is the cause in which Aruna aims to tackle. 

Kenya’s demographic demonstrates a largely growing population of young people. However, this high supply of Kenyan students is met with low supplies of teachers, schools, and education materials as well. T4B not only focuses on women’s empowerment but works to build libraries and supply books or tablets to rural communities to promote literacy whether traditional or digital. T4B works with the Smallest Library in Africa to revamp libraries and supplies books to underprivileged students in slum areas. This was a critical help during the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic which prompted schools to close and students were unable to physically attend classes for a long period of time.

Aruna’s initiatives have greatly impacted thousands of lives across the country by encouraging open conversations about menstruation and spreading her passion of education to thousands of students across the country. This is just the start of her powerful journey.
