Mr. Ravi Kant is a Civil Engineer from IIT (Roorkee) and Masters (Economics), University of Manchester. He joined IAS in 1985 in West Bengal Cadre. Clean and green India is in his DNA – the turning point came when he was appointed Member Secretary, Pollution Control Board. He got international exposure in environmental management in Germany and Hong Kong. He established eastern India’s first Bio-medical & Industrial Waste Management Facility in West Bengal. 

To pursue his passion for ‘Swachh Bharat’ he took VRS from the IAS in 2006 and joined as MD of ‘Ramky Enviro Engineers Ltd.”, India’s largest Environment Company at Hyderabad. He managed 35 waste management projects in India. Later he established India’s largest Municipal Waste Management Project in Hyderabad – today treating more than 6500 tons per day of waste and producing power.

He partnered with Government of India during ‘Swachh Bharat’ Campaign in 2015 – as a Key Note Speaker in Zonal Workshops held at Mumbai, Kolkata and Bangalore. He has trained more than 5800 stakeholders – Ministers, IAS Officers, Policy Makers, Practitioners, Civil Society and Public at large in various lectures & workshops organized by premier Institutes & Industry Associations. He says, “Waste Management is not a rocket science. We have the technology in India and we know – what works in Atmanirbhar Bharat. We need not reinvent the wheel – we need to roll it. We need strong Political Will supported by committed, continuing administrative action. Waste Segregation is the key to Waste Management. Waste Management is best done in PPP (Public-Private Partnership) mode – involving all stakeholders to create win-win collaboration. Ultimately Environment is the Winner.”
