Mr. Puneet Singh Singhal’s exceptional take and innovations for people with special abilities makes him one of a kind person
Mr. Puneet Singh Singhal, the founder of ‘SSSTART’, is working towards normalizing speech & communication disabilities and advocating for a more inclusive and accessible society for people with different visible and invisible disabilities. He is among the 96 members of the IUCN Commission on Education and Communication (CEC) which drives change for the co-creation of sustainable solutions through leading communication, learning, and knowledge management in IUCN and the wider conservation community. He is the first Indian to receive a Grant of USD 1000 from Awesome Foundations’ Disability Chapter.
He thanks the generosity of Ms. Rittika, who got him a physical place to run workshops on topics like empathetic listening, self-leadership, and community healing practices. Mr. Puneet is the Global Advisor of Billion Strong chaired by Debra Ruh and a non-profit that aims to bring our global community together, support each other, empower self-identification, and honor our lived experiences with visible and invisible disabilities. He is also a part of the growing HundrED Community as an Ambassador for change. As a HundrED Ambassador, he works to identify and recommend education innovations that are changing the way our children learn. Alternatively, he also tries or supports trial innovations in the area of expertise of communication and speech disabilities.
During Lockdown in 2020, he designed a campaign called “Project Cyber Hygiene” to spread awareness to people about the sudden outburst of fake news in India. In 2019, he was appointed as a member of the Delhi Minority Commission’s Peace Committee acknowledging his activism against injustices against minorities in Delhi. In the same year, he won the Teachers’ Innovation Award given by the Zero Investment innovation for Education initiative of Sri Aurobindo Society, Rupantar (Transforming Government School) for sustainable efforts toward promoting joyful and experiential teaching.
From the period of 2015 to 2020, he has interned or volunteered for organizations like Amnesty International as Research Intern for the project called “Halt the Hate documenting Hate Crimes in India, Vision India Foundation as a Marketing Communication Intern, ActionAid India as a Fundraising Volunteer for Kerala Floods and Volunteered for Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) during Delhi Elections as aware people of its website where they can check candidates’ criminal background and total assets. In 2017, he assisted shopkeepers and merchants in the neighborhood to adopt a digital mode of payment in association with Paytm helping them to recover from the after-effects of Demonetization.
