Achiever's Success Story

Success comes to those never let any calamity shake their roots

Born into a middle-class family, Mr. Desam Sudhakar Reddy was always a strong student, earned a first class with distinction while pursuing a master’s in chemistry. For all of his academic successes, his father was a fantastic motivator. After the sudden death of his beloved father, the entire world seemed dark to him. He was financially destroyed after losing the family’s sole provider and had a huge responsibility to support his family. As a result of his government employment, he was able to provide financial stability to his family, which was a blessing in disguise. Calamity, as they say, never strikes alone.

Due to his life-threatening illnesses IDDM (Diabetes), epilepsy, hypertension, retinopathy, and osteoarthritis, he had been taking 7 medications and 4 injections per day for the previous 20 years. He managed to recover, which surprised the doctors, thanks to family support, his unwavering willpower, grit, and determination.  

He makes an effort to keep a healthy work-life balance by eating a balanced diet, playing shuttle badminton for 20 years, believing in himself, being passionate about teaching chemistry, supporting students in their endeavors, and aspires to contribute to the field of education through audiovisual development. In addition to working for the government in PJTSAU, Hyderabad, India, he taught chemistry for 10+2 /K12 students’ part-time, acted as a coach for IIT JEE & Premedical aspirants for the past 20 years and has helped them to achieve their goals.

Turning Point – Researching innovatively for enhancing the quality of teaching:

While he was a diligent student in school, he observed that the material was covered whether or not the students understood the fundamental ideas. When he was a teacher, he observed that many students had difficulty passing exams, failed to secure higher grades due to lack of understanding the fundamentals concepts of chemistry. The gap in this student’s knowledge inspired him to create a world-class audiovisual course on chemistry called “Audiovisual Representation Of Chemistry, AVC” in 2018. This product was copyright registered with the Indian government and bears the ROC number CF-4073/2018.

After ten years of dedicated research into teaching methodologies, had created 900 Audio Visuals in Chemistry, each lasting between three and six minutes and primarily intended for students at the Intermediate/K12/10+2 level, IIT-JEE/NEET aspirants of India, as well as for Pre-University courses in the US and UK.  The desire to share knowledge in the field of chemistry is a driving force behind the creation of high-caliber, international-standard audio-visuals, in addition to serving in administrative government positions.

Design of Audio-visuals and purpose

To keep students from getting bored, AVC uses required i) introductory audiovisuals to introduce topics using examples from everyday life. ii) Study with Questions What, Why, and how questions help people think and develop their ability to reflect. iii) Audiovisuals using scientific methodology, such as experimentation, observation, and inference, is adopted to enable students to instill scientific thoughts and spur young minds towards innovations and inventions. iv) Analogies were used to make complex topics lucid. Audiovisuals with lots of animations and pictorial representations are appropriately incorporated to address students’ concept-building issues. v) Application-based videos developed helped students think of real-world examples that are applicable to their daily lives and develop their creativity, which helped them achieve high grades. Students who followed his AVs in the various chemistry topics outperformed those who sought guidance from other coaching classes, which allowed the audio-visuals to be validated for their performance qualification.

Impact on Education:

Desam has reached 1 million viewership with his effective use of social media platforms to disseminate chemistry knowledge.

He uploaded 180+ videos to his YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCN9QmNjdY55NqHlQJXm1uZg, which helped 1870+ subscribers learn, while receiving 2,38,794 viewership in India, Asia, and the West. Answered 350 student questions on Quora and shared his chemistry knowledge to 7 lakh viewers. https://www.quora.com/profile/Desam-Sudhakar During the Covid pandemic, channels primarily benefited K12 students, 10+2 students, and IIT JEE/NEET aspirants. Desam has helped students and received letters of recommendation from eminent academicians, Vice-Chancellors, policy members, and inventors. Freely distributed videos through his website www.avceducate.com , helped students. He is the recipient of “Best Innovative Learning Tools” award at the 2020 International Education Awards; His project was adjudged as Challenge winner at Global challenge DigiEduHack, 2020. 

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to Education and Nation Building, he has received the 28COE Global Award “BEST TEACHING AND MANAGEMENT AWARD” and the Indian Achievers Award “EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION 2022.” He published insightful articles that benefited both environment and education sectors.
