1198 Ventures is India’s first and only Deep Tech for dual-use focused effort. Dual-use technologies are those that have applications in both civilian and military contexts. They believe that deep tech is akin to the internet back in the 1990s but will be far more disruptive will solve problems and build a world an order of magnitude greater than what previous generations have done. Consumer platforms have reached behemoth status – but the first flight of deep tech smart enterprise platforms has only touched fractions of major parts of the economy – i.e. industries that propel and define our economies.
This is an outsized opportunity and one that Indian tech. entrepreneurs can successfully address and 1198 is here to work with these entrepreneurs to SUMMON THIS FUTURE.
Today’s global state of play gives us a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to capitalize on global R&D and applied science to bring forward critical and emerging technologies to commercial deployment.
1198 employs the Hacking 4 Defense (H4D) methodology developed at Stanford University, to enable Deep Tech start-ups/scale-ups to address problems for industry and realize pathways to deployment. This is achieved through rigorous interaction with the problem owner/end-user,
iterative problem-solving techniques, and introductions to relevant investor, supply chain and R&D communities in the U.S. and India.
The mission is to Mitigate product and market risk and give these startups an unfair advantage by exposing them to sophisticated end users and problem statements, to grow their addressable markets, and to increase the adoption readiness Level, investment readiness level, and technical
readiness level of the startups. 1198’s vision is to elevate Indian deep tech entrepreneurs and their innovations to a global level.
