Trade relations between India and UK

The successful visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the UK in November 2015 gave fresh impetus to the bilateral relationship. Regular exchanges of visits at the Prime Ministerial and Ministerial level earlier have laid the foundation for fostering better ties between the two countri

Trade and investment are among the most important planks of bilateral relations between the UK and India. The UK supports India’s proposal for permanent membership of the UNSC and is also an important interlocutor for India in the EU, G8, G20 and global contexts. India and UK have agreed on a new Defence and International Security Partnership to intensify cooperation on defence and security, including cyber security, counter-terrorism and maritime security. They also endorsed a Joint Statement on Energy and Climate Change. They issued a Statement of Intent to scale up bilateral cooperation to a global partnership for development cooperation in third countries. Initiatives between the two countries focus on technology cooperation in trade, investment and finance.

An India-UK Tech Alliance between NASSCOM and Tech UK to establish a UK-India Tech hub, develop UK-India Tech Cluster partnerships, an Advanced Manufacturing Centre in India and collaborate in Artificial Intelligence and Digital Healthcare in India’s Aspirational Health Districts Programme are some of the work in progress, and a few have been achieved. Other initiatives include new India-UK Dialogues on Investment and FinTech, a multilateral India-UK Trade Dialogue and a sector-based roadmap to address barriers to trade. Both countries have signed a slew of MOUs/agreements during various visits of the Prime Ministers of both countries to the UK and India. Some of the recent ones include areas such as a cyber-relationship framework, on rejuvenation of river Ganga, Skill Development, vocational education, safe nuclear energy use, cooperation in animal husbandry, fisheries and dairying, sharing of criminal records, research in humanities and social sciences under the Newton-Bhabha programme and setting up of a centre of excellence in Ayurveda and traditional Indian medicine. India-UK Buyer-Seller Meet on food products was organised by the Trade Promotion Council of India and supported by the High Commission in London on Sept 5, 2022). The event witnessed 25 Indian exporters participating, which saw active participation from UK buyers.

Recently the two countries have entered into an arrangement for the Global Innovation Partnership. It is a very important initiative. This will further strengthen development partnerships with other countries. Under this, India and the UK will co-finance up to $100 million to transfer and scale up “Made in India” innovations to third countries. These will also help in achieving sustainable development goals and in efforts to tackle climate change. This will be very useful for startups and the MSME sector in exploring new markets and globalising their innovations. Last year, India- UK established the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries. Recently, both countries have launched an ambitious ‘Roadmap 2030’ to work jointly on various sectors and issues of common concern.

Introduction to Online Casino Payment Methods

The world of online casinos has seen a significant evolution over the past few years. With the rise in popularity of online gambling, there has been a corresponding increase in the need for secure, efficient, and user-friendly payment methods. One such method that has gained traction among users and online casinos alike is Boku. In this article, we will delve deep into the intricacies of Boku as a payment method, its advantages, and how it stands out in the crowded market of online payment options. For those interested in a comprehensive overview of Boku and its application in online casinos, Vigiswiss offers an insightful guide.

What is Boku?

Boku is a mobile payment service that allows users to make payments using their mobile phone number. Instead of entering credit card details or bank account information, users can simply provide their mobile number, and the cost of the transaction is added to their monthly phone bill or deducted from their prepaid balance. This method of payment is especially popular in regions where credit card penetration is low, but mobile phone usage is high.

Advantages of Using Boku in Online Casinos

  1. Security: One of the primary concerns for online gamblers is the security of their financial information. Boku eliminates the need to enter sensitive credit card details, reducing the risk of data breaches.
  2. Convenience: With Boku, players can make deposits instantly using their mobile phone, without the need for any additional registration or verification.
  3. Accessibility: Boku is accessible to a vast majority of people, even those without a bank account or credit card. This makes it an inclusive payment method for all.

How Does Boku Work?

When a user chooses to pay with Boku at an online casino, they are redirected to Boku’s payment page. Here, they enter their mobile number and confirm the payment. Once confirmed, the amount is either added to their monthly phone bill or deducted from their prepaid balance. The online casino receives a notification of the successful payment, and the player’s account is credited accordingly.

Boku’s Global Reach

Boku is not just limited to a specific region or country. Its services are available in over 50 countries, making it a global player in the mobile payment industry. This wide reach ensures that players from different parts of the world can benefit from its services, making it a preferred choice for many online casinos.

Challenges and Limitations

While Boku offers numerous advantages, it is not without its challenges. Some users might face restrictions on the amount they can deposit using Boku. Moreover, withdrawals might not be possible directly to a mobile number, requiring players to opt for alternative methods for cashing out.

Conclusion

In the ever-evolving landscape of online casinos, payment methods play a crucial role in determining a platform’s success. Boku, with its unique approach to mobile payments, has carved a niche for itself in this competitive market. Its emphasis on security, convenience, and accessibility makes it a top choice for many online gamblers. As the world moves towards more digital payment solutions, Boku’s significance in the online casino industry is only set to grow.

India UAE bilateral trade

India-UAE CEPA makes significant positive impact

India-UAE CEPA makes significant positive impact

India UAE bilateral trade

The India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) which came into effect on the 1st of May 2022 is already creating a significant positive impact on India-UAE trade. Indian exports to the UAE,excluding petroleum productsgrew from US$ 5.17 billion during June-August 2021 to US$ 5.92 billion during June-August 2022, which denotes an increase of 14%.

It is pertinent to note that India’s global non-petroleum exports during the same period (Jun-Aug 2022) grew by 3% on an annual basis. This implies the growth rate of India’s non-petroleum exports to the UAE is almost 5 times as that of India’s non-petroleum exports to the world.

Excluding petroleum related imports, Indian imports from the UAE during the same three-month period grew from US$ 5.56billion (June-August 2021) to US$ 5.61 billion (June-August 2022) or an increase of 1% in percentage terms.

It may be noted that India’s non-oil export growth of around 14% on year-on-year basis comes in the context of significant macroeconomic headwinds such as conflict in Ukraine, COVID-19 related lockdowns in China, rising inflationary pressures, expected Policy tightening in advanced economies, global growth slowdown and consequent reduced demand, reduction in global merchandize trade (growth slowed down to 3.2% in Q1 2022 vis-a-vis 5.7% in Q4 2021)etc.

WTO’s global trade growth forecast for the entire year 2022 was at 3% in April 2022. This forecast is expected to be revised downwards as the macroeconomic headwinds had worsened since April 2022.

Indian exports are likely to increase further in the coming months with increasing use of the CEPA by the exporters and with dedicated efforts from Department of Commerce, in association with Indian Mission in the UAE, through organization of a series of trade promotion events in the UAE during the current Financial Year.

The analysis of the India-UAE CEPA was carried out from the period of June-August 2022, excluding statistics of oil trade.
