Aparna Guhan Shyam’s dedication to aiding patients with Haemophilia began at the age of 14 when she would contribute her savings to support individuals afflicted with the condition. By the time she reached 16, her aspirations extended further, leading her to envision the establishment of a charity named Tiara. At the age of 24, she turned this dream into reality by founding the Tiara Haemophilia and Cancer Foundation, aimed at providing assistance to children dealing with Haemophilia and Cancer.
A seasoned public health and management professional with over 15 years of experience, Aparna holds Master’s degrees in Management from London and Public Health from the University of Liverpool. She has played an integral role in shaping the trajectory of Tiara since its inception, steering it to its current standing.
Over the past decade, Tiara has extended its support to over 700 children, forming partnerships with 15 hospitals across five cities. Tiara’s reputation is founded on its unwavering commitment to enhancing children’s health while upholding the dignity of those it serves. The organization operates with a strong commitment to integrity and transparency, ensuring its generous donors witness the impact of their contributions.
Currently, Aparna is at the forefront of expanding Tiara’s scope. Their mission is to employ evidence-based strategies to address the Social Determinants of Health, ensuring that every child has equal opportunities for a healthy life and that all ailing children enjoy equal access to quality healthcare.
Aparna’s remarkable efforts have garnered recognition through several prestigious awards, including The Bhartiya Nari Ratna Award 2023 and The Indian Achiever’s Award for 2022 & 2023. Her unwavering commitment to championing health equity for children showcases her dedication to making a lasting impact in the realm of healthcare and social well-being.
