Achiever's Success Story

A Beacon of Compassion Redefining Humanitarianism

Dr. Sonya Suri is a luminary whose name reverberates in the echelons of the finance industry, celebrated not only for her Doctorate in Management Studies but also for her prestigious Times Business Award in 2022. Holding the pivotal role of Director at Bharat Re-Insurance Brokers Pvt. Ltd., she stands as an exemplar of success and compassion, resonating deeply across diverse domains of social service.

Her dedication to empowering women, championing gender equality, establishing healthcare centers, educating underprivileged children, and pioneering initiatives for food donation epitomizes her unwavering commitment to humanitarian causes. Rooted in her upbringing, guided by the principles instilled by her father, Retd. Major General A.L. Suri, her journey is marked by reverence for the nation and an unwavering dedication to humanity.

Dr. Suri’s ascent to her esteemed position faced myriad challenges, especially in an era when few women dared to venture into the realm of finance. Her tenacity and determination paved the way for her remarkable success.

Her philanthropic journey finds its genesis in the spiritual teachings she imbibed from her devout grandparents and a poignant encounter at the Sai Baba Temple in Lodhi Road. Observing marginalized individuals, particularly lepers, she transcended societal misconceptions and fear, engaging with them and providing sustenance, blankets, and essential provisions.

The transformative experience of discovering a leper colony near Okhla became the catalyst for her lifelong dedication to social work. Even amidst the adversities of the Covid-19 pandemic, Dr. Suri’s commitment remained resolute. She ensured daily provision of food, supplies, and medicine to the children of Harijan Camp and residents of the Leper Colony for seven months, impacting the lives of around 200 individuals daily.

Expanding her altruism globally, Dr. Suri actively supports the United Nations Children’s Food Programme through the La Bingo brand. Her efforts provide seven meals per day and positively impact around 3,600 individuals annually. Additionally, she established a pre-nursery school for underprivileged children, offering free education and opportunities.

Her dedication to healthcare is evident in the establishment of a homeopathy and allopathic dispensary in 1992 at Arya Samaj Mandir in Defence Colony, New Delhi, providing consultations, medications, and state-of-the-art medical equipment free of charge. Recently, she facilitated ten cost-free cataract surgeries, enhancing the vision and future prospects of underprivileged women.

Addressing the menstrual challenges faced by women, Dr. Suri distributed 50,000 free sanitary napkins to destitute women and installed vending machines and incinerators for appropriate disposal, positively impacting 5,000 individuals monthly.

Amidst receiving eight prestigious awards, including the Global Human Rights Protection Award and Atmanirbhar Bharat Accreditation, Dr. Sonya Suri remains driven by her belief in selfless service. She inspires others to find fulfillment in uplifting humanity, epitomizing the profound impact of kindness and empathy on society.
