Research and advancing AI and analytics in business and his contributions to NASSCOM and beyond - Mr. Venkat Raghavan shares his life journey to success
Mr. Venkat Raghavan is part of the Tesco India executive leadership team and the Tesco Business Solutions global leadership team. Prior to Tesco, he was with Boston Consulting Group, as director of their AI business in Asia pacific. He has had a 20-year long journey in analytics spanning India, US and Europe. He has transformed this team into a unit that plays a central role in Tesco’s group strategy.
This includes setting up of Analytics Centre of Excellence (CoE) partnering with the CXOs and delivering commercial impact and cultural transformation by solving a combination of day-to-day decision challenges as well as step-change transformations such as Customer personalization, Category management science, Large-scale demand forecasting, and Cost base optimization, and experimentation science across group businesses.
Over the last few years, his team emerged as a thought leader and impact creator for the Tesco group – covering all business functions, all operating countries, and all possibilities across the analytics spectrum ranging from reporting to ML/science transformations at scale. From a 70-member reporting team, this function has now grown into a global team of 250 applied data scientist. He has been recognized by several industry forums including the 40 under 40 award by Analytics India Magazine in 2021, and the Top 10 most intelligent leaders in data science & analytics by CIO Look magazine in 2022.
Most recently, he was awarded with The India Achievers Award, a prestigious Indian National Award, for his incredible contribution in the field of Analytics. He is an active contributor in building the data science community through his contributions to NASSCOM (Indian nongovernmental trade association and advocacy group) in the field of AI advancement, authoring several media articles and interviews, providing talks in industry events, and forging academic collaborations in India and UK.
