Chinmay’s technical journey started at Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Pune, where he completed his Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Telecommunication. His Signal and Image processing coursework motivated him to hone his skills further and pursue a Master’s degree from the University of Southern California, specializing in Machine Learning. While at USC, Chinmay was a research assistant at a medical imaging lab, researching ways to differentiate malignant tumours from benign ones. His research was published in international SPIE conference proceedings.

However, it was at Trueface.ai that Chinmay truly made his mark. Working on face recognition and analysis (FR), Chinmay developed deep learning solutions that eliminated bias from face recognition models across ethnicities and genders. These solutions helped Trueface win several commercial contracts, including US Air Force grants for access control. Another deep learning model developed by Chinmay ranked amongst the top 15 in the global FR benchmark, NIST frvt 1:N, which was crucial in

Trueface’s acquisition by Pangiam. Chinmay continued his streak of achievements and contributed to Pangiam ranking first in the US Department of Homeland Security’s

(DHS) biometric rally 2022 in all test categories. The strong performances in the NIST frvt and DHS Rally have contributed to Pangiam winning several commercial contracts worth millions.

Outside of work, Chinmay’s expertise in ML and CV has earned him invitations to judge ML hackathons and serve as a peer reviewer for international ML conferences. In addition to judging, Chinmay also mentors hackathon participants in ML. Chinmay’s journey is remarkable and a testament to his dedication and hard work in pursuit of excellence.
