Rema Ramchandran’s career began in 1971 at Shaw Wallace, rising to acclaim for administrative excellence. Joining ANZ Grindlays, she advanced to Relationship Manager in Mumbai. In 2005, with Standard Chartered, she led NRI Division. Recognized by IASAP, she served as All India President. Since 2004, she’s been with Soroptimist International, impacting globally through philanthropy. In 2018, she joined IWFCI, India, and received an Honorary Doctorate in 2019. From 2020-2021, she served as Editor, featured in ad films, and held key roles in various organizations, epitomizing a multifaceted legacy.
Rema Ramchandran embarked on her illustrious career in 1971 at Shaw Wallace and Co. Ltd., a distinguished British company, serving as an Executive Assistant to the Director. With exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, she swiftly rose through the ranks, earning recognition as the Best Administrative Assistant of the year for Tamil Nadu and securing the 1st Runner-up position for India by IASAP in 1990.
Joining ANZ Grindlays Bank the same year, Rema became the coordinator for the International Training Centre in Chennai. Progressing to the role of Relationship Manager for the Captain Grindlays Club in Mumbai, she catered to High Net Worth Individuals and Celebrity clientele, showcasing her versatility.
In 2005, with the ANZ Grindlays Bank acquisition by Standard Chartered Bank, Rema moved to SCB, Bangalore, becoming the Head of NRI Division. Beyond her professional role, she actively championed CSR initiatives like “Seeing is Believing” and “Living with HIV,” participating in a marathon in Hong Kong for the former.
Recognized by IASAP with the Best Practice Award for her contributions to “Seeing is Believing,” she concurrently served as the All India President of IASAP, displaying leadership across major cities in India.
Since 2004, Rema has been associated with Soroptimist International, holding roles like President and Programme Action Chairperson. Her global impact is evident through her travels to the USA and New Zealand for cross-cultural exchange programs.
Driven by empathy, Rema’s philanthropy includes fundraisers, leading teams for community projects, and serving as an Ambassador for Soroptimist International’s initiatives.
In 2018, she became a director of IWFCI, India, conducting Fire-side chats, representing Global World Summits, and engaging in high-level discussions. In 2019, she received an Honorary Doctorate in Social Services from St. Mother Teresa Virtual University.
From 2020 to 2021, Rema expanded her horizons, serving as the Editor of “Divinity at Play” and featuring in ad films. Actively participating in plays, interviews, and holding key roles in organizations like Knowble Minds and Indiassetz, Dr. Rema Ramchandran exemplifies a multifaceted individual whose legacy extends beyond professional success to philanthropy, creativity, and empowerment.
