Emerging Pharmaceutical Entrepreneur
Mr. Umang is a management graduate from University of Wollongong, Australia, with experience in Telecom & FMCG Field. Having worked in Middle East, CIS and Africa for over 10 years, he moved back to Nepal and entered into pharmaceuticals business 5 years ago with a vision to change the current pharmaceutical scenario in the country and develop it to the next level. During this period, he has also worked in an OSD plant and lead the team to renovate the plant as WHO GMP Compliant and was successfully able to receive the certificate in a very short span of time.
He has recently set up a first of its kind injectable plant in Nepal with high capacities and full range of products in LVP and SVP Segment with a vision of making the country self-sufficient in Injectable drugs. During Covid-19 crisis, learning about constant shortages for Virus Transport Medium, he dedicated himself into making it for the country during the shortage. He along with his team was successful in doing so even during the peak lockdown in a short span of time. They have set up a state-of-the-art facility where they were able to manufacture a different product from their range. They plan to make injectable cheaper and easily available in the Nepal market.
They are also launching a first pharmacy chain store in Nepal under the brand Generico Pharmacy. Starting with over 15 stores in the capital of the country, they plan to establish around 200 stores in 4 years span around the country. The pharmacies will be established and run as per Good Pharmacy Practice guidelines. In 5-year period, he wishes to change the way pharmaceuticals are made and sold in the country.
