In 2016, Madhur and his friend and fellow IIT Kharagpur batchmate, Saurabh Goel (Current CEO of Amber student) encountered a peculiar problem. They had friends moving abroad, taking on academic journeys in England, USA and elsewhere but were faced with endless problems like substandard accommodations, fake photos, scams and heavy brokerage were only the beginning. This gave birth to the idea which eventually led to Amber student.

In a few short years, the platform has become the go to space for students and the team has managed to onboard 6,00,000 rooms for its customers and although  Amber student was initially aimed at international students, a significant number of local students have begun using Amber student due to the ease and quality offered.

Madhur recalls an incident from his early days at Amber when he went all the way to the airport to get a signature from a student moving to Boston for the student had no place to stay. Madhur is a firm believer in not only customer satisfaction, but also customer delight.

Madhur believes that of all his achievements, one which stands tall and strong is his ability to have helped grow the business 2x in a year like 2020 despite the Covid19 pandemic and not only grow the business in a time like this, where other companies were shutting down, suffering losses and indulging in heavy job and pay cuts, but also help expand the workforce by 50%.

Madhur wants to keep the momentum of growth and expansion going, eventually leading to the penultimate goal and creation of the next billion dollar startup in the coming 3 years.
