A soon to be Alumni of INSEAD, and a published National Geographic Wildlife Photographer by passion, Gaurav Chopra was always intrigued by what he likes to call the “Human Machinery”, and what a well-oiled system could achieve. Beyond the stories of bravery and sacrifice, lay a complex equation of what makes human beings tick and give their best. That question drove him to pursue his double masters in Human Resources & Corporate Law and begin an impressive journey. Backed by unflinching sincerity, the desire to not be satisfied with status quo and keep looking at opportunities to win, Gaurav worked across a spectrum of industries like Banking, Consumer Goods, Insurance etc. eventually leading to spearheading this change on a global platform.
Gaurav defines HR transformation as not just a process improvement activity but also the inherent revamping of the function to graduate from “support” mindset to active business contribution. He spearheaded that change in his first leadership stint as the India HR Head of Mattel.
He simultaneously contributed towards paying back to his roots by leading the largest ever CSR drive for the Indian Army, for which he received a National Citation from the Chief of the Indian Army.
Gaurav moved on to head the India HR function of Allianz, where his success in driving immediate turnaround in HR systems led to him being chosen as part of the Global HR Transformation Team. In that role, he is pivotal in driving successful process and functional transformation projects for Asia, Europe & Egypt. He remained ahead of the curve by piloting digitization of HR processes via AI, Bots, setting up GICs, leading to successful process transitions.
For his path-breaking work in the field of HR, he received commendations like the Most Influential HR Leaders in India, was Featured on the Cover of Peak Life, an International Lifestyle magazine for an article on “Dominance of HR”. As part of his effort of paying back to the environment, he was felicitated by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam (Honourable President of India).
