Deepu Shyam Prakash, Senior Director & Business Head, Katerra Design Pvt Ltd
Deepu, is an Architect, Design Thinker and Real Estate professional who brings with him more than 17 years of experience in various facets of real estate development across Middle East, South East Asia and India with good knowledge of business operations of multi-disciplinary Design Consultancy & EPC Companies. His skills and experience include leading and managing culturally diverse teams in aspects relating to Design, Operations, Business Development and Strategy & Planning for Real estate development.
Graduated as an Architect from the University of Kerala, Deepu is a Senior Director and currently heads Katerra Design Pvt Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Katerra India, a global technology-driven off-site construction company focused on Precast, Steel and CLT. He is responsible for the business strategy of the firm, overall design direction as well as overseeing all aspects from R&D to design & technological advancement. His functional role also includes expanding business opportunities in various sector markets including Corporate Campus, workplace Interiors, Healthcare, Aviation, Industrial, Hospitality, Residential, Retail and Design & Build assignments. He works closely with Global & Regional Leadership team to take the business to next phase of growth by providing operational & strategic leadership for Design Consultancy as well as Build.
Currently, he leads a team of 250+ professionals including Architects, Planners, Interior Designers, MEPF, Civil & Structural Engineers and Project Managers to manage a portfolio of 60 million Sq. Ft of completed projects and another 80 million Sq.Ft in various stages of Design & Execution. Prior to being with Katerra Design, he has been associated previously with noted International firms including AECOM, Surbana Jurong and RSP Design Consultants. Deepu has also undertaken a course on Design Thinking from Darden School of Business, University of Virginia.
Beyond office, Deepu also contributes to his role as a member of Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (UK), in South Asia, and CoreNet Global. He is a registered Architect with Council of Architecture, India and an International Associate of American Institute of Architects. He has also participated in various conferences as speaker & panellist for knowledge sharing as well as part of the core team for developing industry regulations. Deepu believes in empowering and enriching himself with continuous education and learning so that he can share the same with others. He also mentors young professionals who aspire to be leaders in this industry with a strong focus on transparency and ethics.
