“Arup Sengupta, Founder & Managing Trustee, Notun Jibon”
Mr. Arup Sengupta, 71 years old is a retired Vice President of a Telecom Company, having led teams across verticals for 46 long years in Corporate has been a Champion right from Childhood as a 16 year old youth he fought off Tuberculosis twice and is a survivor today and in spite of acute COPD and breathlessness problems he is leading his NGO Notun Jibon to great heights with a School for Sex workers /underprivileged children in Kalighat, Kolkata and also setting up a livelihood Tailoring School cum production center for the marginalised women from the streets of Kolkata to unwanted underprivileged women from the Red Light area.
During Lockdown and till today his Team and himself have been giving dry rations to over 3 lac plates across flooded villages affected by Super Cyclone Amphan.
Arup Lives in Sundarban where he has adopted a village in Chandipur Island and is building a 225 seat Play School and Primary school for the poor aged 3 years to 12 years on 3 floors RCC building.
In the same premises a 10 bed Primary Health Care Center is coming upas well as expanding the 22 sewing machine Tailoring School cum production center to 100 sewing machines for the widows (husbands eaten by Tigers/Crocodiles or snake bitten) and able women to earn and live better by making Masks, Mosquito nettings.
Arup wants to spend the reminder of his life with the villagers bettering their lives so that they become self reliant in the near future
