Founder, Tadpole Projects Pvt. Ltd.
With Tadpole Projects, Mr. Jawaad Khan is pioneering the conversion of fossil fuel-guzzling vintage cars into electric vehicles in India, including the 1946 Volkswagen Beetle and the 1936 Austin 10.He also does the same for modern IC-engine four-wheeler vehicles.
Mohammad Jawaad Khan is a 23-year-old entrepreneur from Bhaderwah in Jammu’s Chenab Valley region. He believes he is on the verge of achiving something big in India’s still-developing electric vehicle (EV) market. Tadpole Projects, is his New Delhi-based startup. He hails from humble beginnings. His father is a shopkeeper who runs a small store in the tourist town of Bhaderwah and mother is a government school teacher. Bhaderwah has a relatively high literacy rate (86.6%), although very few venture into entrepreneurship. But before he ever thought of becoming an entrepreneur, he grew up with a deep fascination for making and innovating things.
The Tadpole Projects startup, which was founded in September 2020 and is closely affiliated with IIT Delhi’s Centre of Excellence for Research on Clean Air (CERCA), has already retrofitted vintage cars such as the Volkswagen Beetle (1948) and an Austin 10 (1936), as well as ubiquitous modern four-wheelers such as the Maruti Swift DZire and Honda City.
At Tadpole Projects, they envision to improve the country’s EV ecosystem without putting more cars on the road. As EV retrofitters, they provide a cost-effective and long-term solution. But it’s their ability to maintain the same driving feel as the previous IC-engine car, as well as our ability to provide customised solutions for each customer.
Taking about the recent times, the company has incubated at IIT Delhi. They are officially associated with IIT Delhi now and have their base/office on the IIT Delhi Campus. They have successfully converted an Austin. The next flag bearer in eye rolling conversions by tadpole projects is the Merc C class.
