Dynamic Doctorpreneur with a Versatile Persona
Dr. Tanya Unni is a doctor, skin specialist, brand developer, motivational speaker, columnist and an award-winning entrepreneur. She is the CEO and Co-founder of ‘Amtan Medical’, which has eight medical centres and is one of the largest non-corporate medical chains in Gold Coast, Australia. With extensive experience in the areas of Cosmetic Medicine, Skin Cancer Care, Medicine and Surgery, Dr Tanya founded ‘Skin Lab & Beauty’ clinics, which combine evidence-based medical solutions with advanced beauty techniques. She has also founded ‘Australian Skin Life’, which develops unique skincare products and devices. ‘Dr Tanya’ is a popular cosmetic brand with innovative devices and unique skincare products.
Dr. Tanya was honored with ‘Iconic Woman Award’ by Women Economic Forum in 2020. She was awarded the ‘Australian Young Entrepreneur of the Year in Health and Medicine’ in September 2019. Dr. Tanya received the ‘Global Entrepreneur Award’ by the Indo American Press Club, Houston, USA in October 2019. She also bagged the ‘Gold Coast Business Excellence Award’ in November 2019. In 2018, Dr Tanya, along with her husband Dr. Ameer, was ranked 18th among the ‘Top 100 Young Entrepreneurs’ in Australia, being the only Indians in the list.
She serves as the National Chair of the Health Chapter of Australia India Business Council (AIBC) and also as the Editor of the AIBC Newsletter. She is the member of Queensland Management Committee, Australia India Business Council. Dr. Tanya also serves as a motivational speaker and has been giving speeches in Universities, workshops, seminars, public forums etc. She acts as mentor for several aspiring women entrepreneurs. She has devised a platform called E.W.E (Empowering Women Entrepreneurs) to extend her guidance to budding female entrepreneurs in Australia and in India.
Dr. Tanya is also a member of the esteemed ‘Loka Kerala Sabha’ (World Kerala Assembly), an initiative of Government of Kerala state, India, including expatriates. As LKS member, Dr. Tanya is involved in business acceleration initiatives for pandemic-stricken sectors to alleviate the aftermath of Covid 19. In 2018, when the state of Kerala reeled under devastating floods, she actively contributed to support the community in rebuilding from the devastation by organising a ‘Care for Kerala’ fundraising initiative.
Dr. Tanya is a columnist and vlogger, a prolific dancer and also, an award-winning child artist in movies.
Born in India, she completed her graduation in Medicine from Calicut Medical College, Kerala, and MRCGP from Guy’s and St. Thomas Hospital, UK. She has specialized in Dermatology and advanced skin cancer surgical and medicine training. After moving to Australia in 2010, she first started off as a medical practitioner. Within three months of settling in Australia, Dr. Tanya started her own medical practice. Along with her husband, who is also a General Practitioner, she started her first clinic. Today, Amtan Medical owns 8 medical centers that offer specialist medical care as well as Allied Services in different locations across Gold Coast.
