He has guided 12 M.Sc., and 6 Ph.D., students and also mentor for 2 Post-Doctoral Fellow. Many of his students occupied higher positions in Indian Civil Services and some of them are working as Scientist in India as well as abroad. He had acquired Post Doc. in Post-harvest Technology of Vegetables at UC, Davis, USA. As a researcher he has collected and evaluated more than 2316 germplasm in 37 horticultural crops. Developed grafting technology  for tomato, chilli, watermelon and muskmelon. He has involved in release of 6 varieties in vegetable crops and one in fruit crops and developed 15 production technologies including year round production of chrysanthemum. He mobilised funds to the tune of Rs.1613 lakh to operate 21 externally funded schemes in TNAU.

He has published more than 310 research articles in peer reviewed national and international journals besides written 22 books, out of which 14 are with ISBN.   Recipient of 6 awards and ICAR-JRF fellowship. Involved in Tamil Nadu Precision farming Project during 2003 – 2006 at a budget out lay of Rs.720 lakhs in Dhamapuri and Krishnagiri districts. He have organised 17 trainings and workshops, one ICAR – short courses on stress breeding in vegetables and organized a national conference on vegetable crops. He has attended 32 seminars/Conferences besides 16 trainings in frontier areas of Horticulture. He was instrumental in creation of facilities viz., Green and Shade net houses molecular laboratories, vertical farming facility, automatic seeding grafting unit. Library, indoor stadium and auditorium.
