Dr. Naik started Naik Environmental Engineers Pvt. Ltd. In 1989 with a clear vision to transform the wastewater treatment plants landscape from high power consuming and land – intensive designs to highly elegant, compact, portable, power saving, user – friendly, un – manned computer networked wastewater treatment plants. Through continued R & D enriched by real – time observations on installed plants, his technology evolved rapidly with time. Backed up by a dedicated team of engineers.

Dr. Naik changed the very concept of wastewater treatment in recognition for which, he was awarded a patent in 2005. His contributions to the field of Wastewater management have originated from his innovative mindset in multiple and interdisciplinary domains which has helped this company to achieve and enhance a competitive edge and sustainability. Dr. Naik has masterminded more than 500 projects on wastewater treatment, both as a Consultant and as an entrepreneur. Many of these probably qualify as the most compact and lowest power consuming systems worldwide.

Dr. Naik has a rare blend of academics, research, consultancy, manufacturing, and contracting entrepreneurship over a career span from 1979 to date – a period of over two and a half decades. He thus belongs to a rare breed of academicians to successfully walk the talk from a tranquil campus of an academic and research institute like IIT Bombay into a challenging entrepreneurial arena.

Dr. Naik has created a revolution in the domain of wastewater treatment by inventing the eBIO system having footprints of only 20% and power consumption of 30% that of other systems, apart from masterminding unmanned and the computer networked wastewater treatment plants in spatially decentralized configurations.
