WISE FULL TIME MANAGEMENT, HARD WORK AND PASSION ARE THE PRIME KEYS FOR SUCCESS

Dr. Saumen Chakrabarti is presently serving as Assistant Professor in the Department of Zoology in the Women’s College, Agartala, Tripura, India. He has 25 years research and 13 years teaching experience. He believes that wise full time management, hard work and passion are the prime keys for success. 

His key topics of research include zooplankton, fish disease, water chemistry, fish haematology and fresh water prawn. As a researcher, he believes that if mass culture of zooplankton is carried out on a large scale and then they are supplemented to the cultivable fish species, then the fish production will be enhanced manifold making the nation surplus in fish production. He emphasized that composite fish culture is the most ecologically viable and economically profitable fish culture technique enhancing fish productivity on one hand and the other, it brings forth the socio-economic changes in the rural society which help in alleviating rural poverty and generating livelihood security. 

As a teacher, his prime approach for biodiversity conservation is to encourage the students for environmental awareness and he believes that this kind of learning encourages a care for preservation of natural resources of the environment that offers a greater scope and opportunity for considering how to organise our society in the future sustainability.

He has completed his bachelor’s degree from MBB College, Agartala, Tripura and master’s degree in life science from Tripura University.  In his credentials, 28 Research papers published in National and International Journals, 04 Book Chapters in edited volumes and 01 E-content in E-book. He presented 16 papers in the National Seminar/ Symposium/ Workshop/ International Conference. He has training experience in Breeding and Hatchery management of Macrobrachium rosenbergii in CIFA, Bhubaneswar, Orissa and Fish breeding in Udaipur, Tripura. He delivered an invited talk entitled “Awareness of Environment – the need of the hour” on the eve of World Environment Day -2021. He participated in 20 National Seminars, 01 Orientation Programme, 03 Refresher Courses and 03 Faculty Development Programmes. He acted as a paper setter, evaluator of answer scripts, invigilator of exams and external examiner of practical exams. His key topics of research include zooplankton, fish disease, water chemistry, fish haematology and fresh water prawn.
