He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the London School of Economics and a Master’s Degree from Lancaster University, U.K. Furthermore, he has also pursued leadership programs with Harvard Business School and IIM, Ahmedabad and additionally holds an LLB. He has also been conferred Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) by IBS, Washington and College de Paris, France.

Quoting Sir Isaac Newton, he says “If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulder of giants”, paying homage to his family of visionaries. His great grandfather, Shri Ganpat Raiji Dhanuka, was one of the first in North East India to have set up Oil, Rice and Flour Mills and Bread Making factories making a mark in society. Over the last century, these efforts and traditions have been continued under the able leadership of his grandfather (Shri Gauri Shankarji Dhanuka) and his father (Shri Ashok Kumarji Dhanuka). Furthermore, under the leadership of his father, the group diversified into the Real Estate and Hospitality Industry, including establishing the renowned Hotel Millennium in Guwahati.

While continuing to support the family business verticals, Dr. G.D. Dhanuka expanded the group into Green Energy, Pharmaceuticals and Cosmetics, Food Grains and Infrastructure Development Sector. Today GRD Pharmaceuticals is one of the fastest growing Pharma and Cosmetics companies in North East India. A true pioneer in his field, Handuser-C, produced by his company was the first alcohol based handrub to be ever produced in North East India, already back in 2012. At the befall of the COVID pandemic, GRD Pharmaceuticals were in the forefront to provide hand sanitizers produced as per WHO formulations and at affordable prices determined by the Government.

Philanthropy runs deep in the Dhanuka family veins and Dr. G.D. Dhanuka follows his family’s footsteps towards social welfare and elevation. Following the family trends of over a century, he is involved in a series of philanthropic initiatives, which includes providing free ayurvedic treatment and medicines under the RG Dhanuka Dharmada Trust, providing free education for underprivileged girls in the PS Dhanuka Balika Vidyalaya, being a Danveer Member of Marwari Hospitals and Research Centre, providing shelters for animals through the Shree Gauhati Gaushala, among others.

He is the Chapter Chair of Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO), Northeast India, the Secretary of Laghu Udyog Bharati (LUB), North East India, the General Secretary of Marwari Hospitals, Guwahati and the founder member of Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO), Assam. He also holds key positions in a large number of business and social organizations like Kamrup Chamber of Commerce, Shree Gauhati Gaushala, All Assam Medicines Local Industries Association and many other organizations.

He was the only industrialist from North East India to be invited as a panel speaker in the Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Forum at the Global Investors Summit, “Advantage Assam”. He has been recognised with numerous awards and certificates of excellence by various organizations and partners. In 2020, TIMES GROUP awarded him the “Visionary Leader in Assam and North East” and in 2021-22, he was presented with the prestigious “Indian Achievers’ Award”.

A firm devotee of the almighty, he believes in “doing his best and leaving the rest to God”.
