Dr Birendra comes from a background of Medical training as a Doctor and then specializing into Healthcare Management, Medical Laws and Ethics with a keen interest in building a dynamic system of Healthcare services in the country and the region that can achieve equilibrium of ethics, quality and business in the best proportions. As a Qualified Corporate Director from Institute of Directors, inspired by the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals and the ESG Framework for good governance, Dr Kumar aims to inculcate the Universal Framework of sustainability in the Institute. He has successfully commenced the new Oncology Hospital at Kolkata, which is a Unit of Health Care Global Enterprises Ltd, having a Team of 400 plus Oncologists in the group and the leading Precision Cancer care by Global Innovation.
Dr Birendra as an Empanelled Award Assessor for Performance Healthcare Excellence at C.I.I. has also been a distinguished Panelist for Operational Excellence at the 1st National Healthcare Excellence Summit at CII on 28th of Feb. 2021. He has been awarded as “Healthcare Pioneers of the East 2020 in Oncology, Bettering Lives in the field of Cancer Care by the Times of India. Under his leadership the Institute has also been bestowed with West Bengal Healthcare Leadership Award 2019 by World Health and Wellness Congress of Awards and very recently has won the category for Patient Friendly Hospital by Association of Healthcare Providers (A.H.P.I.) for 2020-21. Dr Kumar and his Team have commenced the HCG EKO Cancer Centre dedicated to Oncology care in the Eastern Indian part of the subcontinent (a Unit of Health Care Global Enterprises Ltd Bangalore). He was involved in completing the Greenfield project, launching it, building the entire Team and commencing of the services with expansion of the consumer base and strategic promotion in the field of Oncology in the East. They have been noted by Key stakeholders for their clear communication, personalized services and navigation to doorsteps for care, with an added Patient tracking system that aims at reducing the Lost to Follow ups.
In covid they have reorganized themselves with all the safety protocols and continue to be resilient to the effects of the pandemic, remain open for oncology care and with one of the least morbidity from the corona virus, both for their team and patients. The environment at the Centre is multicultural and dynamic with a good degree of automation. Dr Kumar has successfully developed Centres of Operational and Clinical Excellence at HCG EKO Cancer Centre in Kolkata. Recently he has been bestowed with the Honorary Chair East Healthcare Committee at ICIB (Indian Chamber of International Business) for the tenure 2021-22 and with this has made his foray into the Healthcare Trade in the region.
