“To succeed in your mission, you must have single-minded devotion to your goal”, says Ms. Shunmathi, a young and dynamic Mechanical Engineer. The immense crave towards arts and physics made her choose this discipline of engineering. She tries to keep herself entrained in seeking to learn new technologies and recent advancement in additive manufacturing and hybrid vehicle. Her flair for research and teaching with more than 4.5 years of experience is just like a feather added to her hat.

Ms. Shunmathi has a number of peer-reviewed international publications as well as book chapter articles. She also serves on the editorial boards of several international journals as a reviewer. Her research area includes manufacturing, FEA and additive manufacturing. For reviewed reputed international journals, conference proceedings, she frequently acts as a reviewer of International Journals review and research paper reviewed a greater number of SCI and SCOPUS Journals. She is also known for her strong commitment and dedication, and intends to continue her efforts in the automotive mechatronics and manufacturing field of higher education and research to enhance the teaching and learning.

Ms. Shunmathi has actively attended many seminars, symposium, workshops, short term courses and faculty development program in national and international levels has published over twenty-five papers in international journals and NPTEL course exam which have successfully been completed.

Explaining about a project in the field of Mechatronics, Ms. Shunmathi says, “For automotive research work, to analyze the real time problem test results. The increasing level of stringent exhaust emission regulations and the rising index of carbon dioxide emissions from the road transport sector have pushed vehicle manufacturers and designers to develop solutions for more efficient vehicles, with well designed vehicle transmission and gear shift patterns among the alternative approaches employed. The MATLAB/Simulink platform was used to create the Maruti Suzuki 2020 four speed transmission model and the results were verified using experiment data. The effectiveness of the new selected gear ratio set and gear shift patterns was then evaluated using a six-speed transmission model based on the validated four speed transmission model. To investigate fuel consumption and acceleration performance, all models were simulated based on motor vehicle emissions groups”.
