The year 2020 has been unprecedented for almost everyone. But as someone has rightly said the necessity is the mother of invention and this man is the perfect example of this quote. This success story is about a man v/s Corona. Introducing Mr.Gopinath R Life, who despite being a micro manufacturer was able to sell his sarees across 13 states and 3 countries.
Hailing from a small village, it was extremely arduous for him to quit his mechanical engineering job and join his family business. His business comprised manufacturing of ethnic fashion , the foundation of which was laid by his forefathers.Corona made the scenario worst for them. Even though there was no sale, they continued their production activities and gave weavers their wages timely.
Eventually, things were getting out of his hands he knew immediate action must be taken. He started posting his concerns on social media platforms and sought help from the people to buy his product of pure zari – handloom silk saree. He even wrote a few letters to PMO through the grievance redressal portal of the Government of India expressing concerns of village industries, weavers rural economy and their livelihoods.Because of pure zari, pure silk and handmade weave escalated his saree’s price.Addressing the pandemic situation, nobody was interested in spending on such expensive items. But a few people reacted to his posts. They requested him to send photos on WhatsApp. Among the responders, very few of them actually purchased the item. Establishing trust has never been easy. Customers were skeptical about sending him huge amounts .Therefore for his customers’ease he came up with after delivery payment options. All that happens, happens for a reason. He emerged victorious in building up trust with his customers. Until now he used to supply saris worth more than Rs. 3,00,000 without receipt of payment from his new online customers. Before pandemic he did no direct retail sale. This is how his first direct retail sale commenced.
These uncertain situations made him take some uncertain decisions that yielded some uncertain benefits. He is someone who believes in customer satisfaction rather than just minting money. This firm believer in God,conjectures that whatever he possesses today is because of God’s grace. He is thankful to Mrs Shafali Vaidya, author, satirist, speaker, from-Ananta Leadership Program, Convenor-Indic Academy who he believes is God disguised in human form. She not only bought his items but also endorsed them to her followers.
He pleads his readers to trust emerging and small business organisations and promote it . This not only increases the morale of the person but also boosts his sale.
