Achiever's Success Story
'Ayush Gharat, Founder of Aashwas'
Introducing Ayush Gharat, a 17 year old Teen Innovator and Social Entrepreneur, currently studying in Grade 11. He is a 1M1B Future Leader and the founder of ‘Aashwas’, an initiative which has till date impacted 3,600 frontline healthcare workers during the Covid-19 pandemic. ‘What you believe, you can achieve’ – This has always been Ayush’s motto in life.
Ayush is a passionate coder, and has developed two android apps prior to Aashwas. His first app mNutrition, can diagnose malnutrition in children and earned him international prestige at the Google Science Fair 2018-19. He was also named by Indiatimes as one of the ‘14 Young Innovators whose ideas can save the world and make it a better place’. His second app Medrive, enables patients with chronic illnesses to store medical records online, and earned him and his team various Awards.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, Ayush realised that it was a very stressful time for doctors and other medical workers. The long working hours, the lack of protective equipment, and the fear of putting their own lives on the line affected their physical and mental wellbeing. This inspired him to start ‘Aashwas’. Through Aashwas, he has been able to virtually conduct fun and entertaining events like antakshari, scavenger hunt, quizzes and comedy events, across Covid hospitals in 80 cities across India. These have acted as stress busters and helped the health workers relax and unwind after a hectic week.
Ayush has also raised Rs 6 lakh to donate 2400 PPE kits for healthcare workers in St John’s Hospital, Bangalore. He has presented his work at the International Youth Conference, where he represented India as a Youth Ambassador to showcase the work the youth have been involved in, during the pandemic. He will also be presenting his work at the Impact Summit in the United Nations Headquarters in New York in December ‘21.
Ayush continues to show his gratitude to the front line heroes through Advocacy on Aashwas’s social media platforms on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. His vision is to utilise technology to create social solutions that can bring a positive global change.
