Presently, Commander Gurumoorthy is the Assistant Dean – Career Services, GITAM Deemed to be University and also heads a strategic initiative – GITAM Career Guidance Center. GCGC’s mission is “To Mentor, guide and prepare every student of GITAM into becoming a well-rounded professional and an empathetic human being, ready to step into her or his chosen career, equipped with competence, confidence and character”. GCGC has introduced Career Counselling & Mentoring in all three Campuses during the peak of the New Normal. This initiative enabled the students to cope up with the challenges borne out of the New Normal and Blended Learning. A strong advocate of Digital learning, Cdr Gurumoorthy worked closely with Coursera to equip the students with UPSKILL programs and certifications Ref: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=goKIik3nvS0). This along with Competence Development and Career fulfillment has empowered the students to beat the downward trend during the pandemic.

His constant endeavour to raise the bar, ability to usher in systemic changes and amalgamate efforts to bring in quantifiable outcomes year on year are evident from the kind of profiles being offered to the student community, multiple offers, PPOs and of course other career avenues which are being rolled out to the GITAMites.

        An avid trekker, he has just completed the trek to Everest Base Camp along with his wife Raji & daughter Anjali. His other hobbies include cycling, swimming, camping & cooking. He strongly believes in giving back to the society and volunteers to coach the school students towards goal setting career aspirations. He dedicates all these to the constant support rendered by GITAM Fraternity.
